Emergency Alert Response System (E.A.R.S.)

Emergencies in college dorms can be chaotic, and delays in communication can put lives at risk. The E.A.R.S system is designed to provide instant, reliable alerts to students, resident assistants (RAs), and emergency responders, ensuring swift action in critical situations.

Key Features

  • Mass Notifications: Instantly send alerts to all dorm residents with a single button press.

  • Response Collection: Gather real-time updates from students about their safety status.

  • 3D Location Tracking: (Optional) Allows responders to locate individuals precisely, including altitude data.

  • Geofencing Privacy: Automatically stops tracking 100 feet off campus to protect student privacy.

  • Two-Way Communication: Residents can communicate with administrators for status updates and instructions.

How It Works

When an emergency occurs, an RA or student can trigger an alert through the app that can be approved by an admin user to prevent false alarms being sent campus wide. Once approved, notifications are immediately sent to all residents, who can see information regarding the emergency and answer specific questions. If tracking is enabled, responders can locate individuals who are unable to answer.

Target Audience

E.A.R.S was initially designed for universities and dormitories but can be applicable to hotels and other large businesses where rapid emergency communication is essential. This app benefits students, university staff, emergency responders, and families by ensuring clear, real-time updates during crises.

Prototype & Demo

The app is currently in development for Android, with future plans to expand to iOS. Below is a preview of the interface and functionality. A working prototype will soon be available for testing.
